Abstract

This paper investigates the impact of speed and road type on the ride smoothness of a 16-seat passenger bus. A 7-degree-of-freedom spatial model was used for analysis, combined with Matlab/Simulink simulation. Results show that the limit speeds for comfort are 66km/h on type B roads and 16.7km/h on type C roads. On other road types, smoothness decreases as speed increases.
