Abstract

Hydroponics has been one of the most efficient technologies for growing food. However, managing a hydroponic system is not simple. This paper presents a way for implementing IoT technology on a hydroponic system starting from scratch, which purpose is to simplify the hydroponic cultivation and make it more accessible to households as well as small farming households. Some enviromental parameters (light intensity, temperature and humidity) and quality of nutrient solution (total dissolved solid – TDS, temperature, and pH) are displayed on the Web Server. An algorithm for mixing nutrient solution is implemented with steady-state error withing 10%. The realization of the system by growing water spinach gives good results with more than 90% of plants growing to harvest.
